DEPARTMENT OF CYTOGENETICS AND MOLECULAR CYTOGENETICS

Cytogenetics is the science that deals with the study of chromosomes and genetic syndromes caused by numerical and / or structural chromosomal abnormalities. The Department of Cytogenetics and Molecular Cytogenetics of the “Analysis” Laboratory conducts classical and molecular cytogenetics examinations, following the European standards of organization, operation and analysis (European Cytogeneticists Association-ECA, Association of Clinical Cytogenetics-ACC). The study of chromosomes is carried out on the one hand, with the formation of the classical karyotype to control the number as well as their structure, and on the other hand with the conduct of the molecular karyotype.
